Richard Turner, CMC Executive Director Honored with National Leadership Award 

Richard Turner, Executive Director of the Community Media Center of Carroll County (CMC) was awarded the Sue Miller Buske Leadership Award from the Alliance for Community Media (ACM). This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated commitment to the mission and goals of the Alliance for Community Media, leadership within the organization within the last three years, a high degree of involvement in the organization nationally, regionally and at the chapter level, and continuing service to the ACM. Turner most recently served in a volunteer capacity as the ACM national board chair from 2021 through 2023 and completed a six-year term on the ACM national board of directors. 

Richard Turner currently serves as the Executive Director of the Community Media Center of Carroll County in Westminster, MD. He is responsible for day-‐to-‐day operations of the community media nonprofit providing digital media educational, production, technical and distribution services.

Previously Turner served as Regional Sales Director for Tightrope Media Systems. Tightrope is an industry leader in video servers, automation and digital signage solutions. Turner also served as Cable and Broadband Video Engineer and Information Specialist for Montgomery County. He was responsible for providing broadcast and IP engineering services associated with the operation and maintenance of cable television digital HD production, post-‐production and broadcast facilities for Montgomery County Government.
