Poetry, Faith, and Mystery

Friday, October 10, 2025 (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Writing Poetry as a Spiritual Exercise Poetry and faith share much in common: they both involve risk, they require courage, and they open us up to ourselves, others, and the divine. And mystery — well, mystery lures us onward. This workshop is for everyone: those who write poetry, those who never have, and those who love to read it, but never considered writing it. We will read poetry together — poems that sing of mystery and faith — learn something of their structure and form, and then, through prompts and imitation of provided poems, write poems of our own.

There will be time for reflection and silence, time for writing and revising, and time to read and share drafts for those who would like to. Handouts of poems will be available, and the facilitator will provide further references for those who are interested.

Participants should bring their own writing materials: journals, writing pads, laptops, or tablets. Lunch is included. Guided by Dr. Barry Casey. For more information, or to register, click HERE
