Carroll Community College Proudly Announces Teri Leatherwood as Its New Athletics Director
Westminster, MD─ Carroll Community College (Carroll) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Teri Leatherwood as its new Athletic Director. Leatherwood, who has served as a dedicated Student Engagement Associate since 2022, is the first woman to hold this position in the college’s history.
"Teri possesses a passion for leadership and student success, and she is a firm believer in the 'student-athlete' in every sense of the term," said Jen Snyder, Senior Director of Student Engagement at Carroll Community College. "Her enthusiasm for the value and excellence of a Carroll education makes her a powerful advocate for recruiting students, not only for athletics but also for our honors programs and the college as a whole. Teri has already made a strong impact on our program, and both coaches and athletes are excited for her in this new role."
Leatherwood’s journey at Carroll began as the head coach and steward of the Carroll Volleyball team, where she built a successful program from the ground up. In only the team’s second year of existence, Leatherwood led the team to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region 20.
With over 30 years of experience in Carroll County’s adult and youth sports, Leatherwood has held various roles as coordinator, recruiter, and program director in multiple sports. She also brings 14 years of coaching experience in high school basketball and volleyball in Carroll County. As a board member of the North Carroll Recreation Council, she established the first youth volleyball program, which helped feed talent into the local high school volleyball program.
"I'm very excited to bring my sports experience and passion for this college to this new position," Leatherwood said. "I look forward to improving and expanding our Athletic Program while continuing to support the fantastic student-athletes on our campus."
Leatherwood earned her Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Carroll Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Stevenson University. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying active. An avid pickleball player, Leatherwood enjoys time on her personal court, playing with her husband, children, neighbors, and friends.
"We are excited to welcome Teri Leatherwood to this new role and look forward to her continued success and leadership," said Snyder.
