Carroll Community College Welcomes Two New Vice Presidents

Westminster, MD─ Carroll Community College (Carroll) announces the appointment of Dr. Kristie Crumley to the position of Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Faculty and the appointment of Dr. Michelle Kloss to the position of Vice President of Effectiveness, Integrity, and Accountability. These positions were both newly created during the reorganization of the College.

Dr. Crumley has been at Carroll since 2003. Prior to her appointment Dr. Crumley served in many positions including faculty member, Director of Student Life, Senior Director of Student Engagement and Completion, Dean of Student Affairs, and Associate Provost of Student Affairs and Marketing. Before moving into Student Affairs, she served as a full-time Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department for five years and as an adjunct professor for two years. Dr. Crumley also developed and served as director of the Hill Scholars Program for 13 years.

“I’m thrilled to take on this new position,” said Dr. Crumley. “Carroll has been part of my heart and soul for over 20 years and having the opportunity to serve as the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs is truly a privilege. Walking in the footsteps of Dr. Ball and Dr. Mince is humbling and inspiring for me,” she said.

Dr. Kloss began at Carroll in 2017, serving first as Associate Vice President of Curriculum and Assessment and then Associate Provost of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness in Carroll’s Academic Affairs division. Her chief responsibilities were directing the College’s academic assessment, strategic planning, internal and external reporting, curriculum, online learning, and general education efforts, and supporting faculty development and promotion.

“It is a privilege to serve Carroll Community College in this new role in the Effectiveness, Integrity, and Accountability area,” said Dr. Kloss. “I am fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with a highly dedicated team of professionals focused on integrity, safety, wellbeing, innovation, and strategy at the College,” she said.

In her current position, Kloss leads strategic and institutional planning, overseeing Institutional Effectiveness; Institutional Integrity and Compliance; Accreditation; Digital Learning and Media; Disability Support Services; Student Care and Integrity; and Campus Police.

“We are so fortunate to have these two talented and dedicated women on the Executive Team at Carroll,” said Dr. Rose Mince president of the College. “Their leadership has and will continue to make a very positive impact on the College and throughout the community. Drs. Crumley and Kloss are highly respected and valued. It is a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside them,” she said.
