Dr. Pamula Emily Mills Receives the Order of Distinction (Companion) at National Honours Investiture Ceremony in The Bahamas
Carroll Community College proudly announces that Dr. Pamula Emily Mills, Assistant Professor of Social Sciences, has been awarded the prestigious Order of Distinction (Companion) under The Bahamas’ National Honours Act, 2016.
The honor was formally bestowed during an Investiture Ceremony held on October 13, 2025, and hosted by Her Excellency, the Most Honourable Dame Cynthia A. Pratt, Governor-General and Chancellor of Honours and Societies of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The Order of Distinction (Companion) is one of the highest national honors bestowed by the Government of The Bahamas, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and progress of the nation. Dr. Mills’s selection for this honor reflects her unwavering dedication to education, her visionary leadership, and her profound impact on both academic and civic communities.
“Students consistently benefit from her caring, enthusiastic presence and her engaging, student-centered instruction,” said Susan Sies, Chair of the Division of Social Sciences, Business, and Education at Carroll Community College. “I could never tire of witnessing the warm, genuine welcome she extends to her students at the start of every class, an invitation that sets the tone for meaningful learning and connection.”
As an Assistant Professor at the College, Dr. Mills is widely respected for her academic rigor, mentorship, and commitment to student success. Her interdisciplinary approach to teaching, spanning social sciences, business, and education has inspired countless students and colleagues alike.
“Dr. Mills exemplifies excellence in the classroom,” said Sies. “She enhances her teaching not only by her deep content knowledge but also by her professional experience as a clinical therapist.”
Recipients of the Order of Distinction (Companion) are celebrated for their lasting influence and commitment to excellence. Dr. Mills joined a distinguished group of honorees at the ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries, community leaders, and guests from across the region.
