Expanding Boundaries International (EBI), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting equitable access to cross-cultural and technological education, is thrilled to announce its 10-year anniversary celebration. To commemorate this milestone, EBI will hold its first-ever “10th Anniversary GALA” in October 2024.

The journey began in 2008 when Leticia Nortey, founder of EBI, won the prestigious Gilman International Scholarship. Moved by her transformative experience studying abroad, Leticia felt a calling to give back to her community. She founded EBI in 2014 with an ambitious mission: to debunk myths surrounding overseas study and travel, particularly among minority students.

Since then, EBI has grown from hosting information sessions in local libraries to a global organization impacting lives in Baltimore, Maryland; Westminster, Maryland; Tema, Accra, Ghana; and Ejura, Ashanti Region, Ghana. Through initiatives like the Brenda A. Brown Passport Scholarships, Cultural Exploration Tours, S.T.E.A.M. Exchange, and Exchange Abroad Consultation, EBI has been a beacon of hope for many.

In alignment with Goal 4 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), EBI is committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. The organization has made significant strides in achieving this vision, from providing internet access, laptops, headphones, and webcams to STEAM students to awarding passport scholarships that have enabled numerous students to expand their horizons through travel.

The 10 Year Anniversary GALA is a celebration of EBI’s journey and impact over the past decade and a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the individuals, sponsors, and supporters who have been instrumental in the organization’s success.
