Kiwanis Club to Host Forum Series on Community Issues

Invested in the future of Westminster, Maryland since 1932, the Kiwanis Club of Westminster has a long-standing tradition of serving the community, particularly by fostering leadership in its youth. Committed to this mission, the club is proud to announce a series of informative forums tackling crucial local issues.

The series kicks off with a forum titled "Youth Leadership Education: The Foundation of the Future" on October 1, 2024, from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Explorations Commons within the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library. This timely discussion will explore the significance of equipping young people with leadership skills and empowering them to make a positive impact on their communities. Leading the discussion will be two professionals dedicated to youth leadership development: Michelle Study-Campbell, Executive Director of Kiwanis International Youth Programs, and Dr. Josh Hiscock, a certified youth leadership educator. The public is invited, especially adults interested in or involved in youth leadership education and high school students.

The next forum, "Early Childhood Literacy: An Investment for Tomorrow," is scheduled for December 3, 2024, at 6:30 PM. This event will delve into the critical importance of early childhood literacy for a child's development and future success. The third forum, "EMS Services in Carroll County: Responding to Citizen Needs," will address the vital role of emergency medical services in the community and the challenges they face. The final forum, "Post High School Education Options: A World of Opportunities," will explore the various pathways available to students after graduation, including college, trade schools, and career training. Speakers for all three forums will be announced at a later date. All forums will be held at the Explorations Commons of the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library.

The Kiwanis Club of Westminster invites the community to attend these informative forums and learn more about the issues that matter most to our local residents.
