Grants Support Infrastructure Costs of Mobile Food Distributions

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Dec. 19, 2025 – The Westminster Rescue Mission is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation to support three of the Mission Food Program’s mobile food distributions in Carroll County.

“The M&T Charitable Foundation funds will support operating costs associated with our mobile distributions in Hampstead, Finksburg, and Eldersburg,” said Stephanie Halley, CEO of the Westminster Rescue Mission. “This infusion will help cover the costs of staffing, fuel, refrigerated truck maintenance, and supplemental food purchases necessary to transport and distribute food to families in need.”

A redistribution partner of the Maryland Food Bank, the Mission Food Program distributed 1.24 million pounds of food in fiscal year ending August 31, 2025, which is approximately 1 million meals. The Mission Food Program operates a schedule of mobile distributions: in addition to the Hampstead, Finksburg and Eldersburg mobile distributions, the Mission partners with the United Way of Central Maryland and the Maryland Food Bank to distribute food in Union Bridge and Taneytown.

The Mission Food Program also distributes food through a network of 28 partner pantries and soup kitchens, helping to deliver food into the Carroll County communities where it is needed the most.

To help individuals and families experiencing food insecurity find resources near them, the Westminster Rescue Mission manages the Carroll County Free Food Resource Guide (bit.ly/ccfreefood). The guide includes detailed information for food pantries, soup kitchens, community-supported Little Free Pantries, and government assistance programs, including details for the Mission’s mobile food distributions.
