Job Title: Staff Accountant

Supervisor: Director of Finance 

Pay: $50,000 Salary

Hours: 40

FLSA Category: Non-Exempt

Summary: Assist the Director of Finance with the financial activities of the Agency to include managing general ledger activity, processing payroll, preparing and distributing reports and maintaining accurate financial records.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Prepare journal entries, manage accounts payable and receivables, pay vendors, complete monthly closings, and create reports in QuickBooks
  2. Reconcile monthly general ledger balances, HRA/FSA benefit balances, bank accounts, and credit card statements
  3. Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports on a monthly, annual, and as needed basis, including all grant awards
  4. Assist in the payroll process in Paylocity to include payroll processing, employee pay rate, benefit and status changes, and timecard accuracy and approval
  5. Assist in the preparation of Agency and grant budgets
  6. Maintain Agency fixed asset inventory
  7. Assist the Director of Fundraising with donation/pledge support and record keeping as needed for events and fundraising campaigns.
  8. Preparation of the quarterly financial reports for grant invoicing
  9. Review and distribute employee/subcontractor tax documents to include W-2s, 1099s, and ACA tax reporting
  10. Assist in the annual financial audit processes through the preparation of standard reports and supporting schedules, responding to questions, and posting of pre- and post-audit general ledger adjustments

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to be able to analyze different financial scenarios and prevent and/or resolve problems
  • QuickBooks experience to include creating reports
  • Payroll processing and reporting experience with Paylocity (or similar automated payroll processing system)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to operate computer programs such as Office 365, Email, internet, payroll processing
  • Ability to use general office equipment (computer, phones, copiers, fax, etc.)
  • Ability to use initiative and judgment in scope of designated responsibilities to ensure that matters requiring attention are appropriately delegated or handled
  • Able to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, supervisors, co-workers, and other persons in writing and by telephone while remaining professional, pleasant, and respectful
  • Ability to conduct oneself as a team member through the use of collegial words and actions that support co-workers and Carroll County Youth Service Bureau’s philosophy, mission and vision.

 

Physical Working Conditions

  • This job requires sitting for 80% of the workday; lifting/carrying/moving objects up to 10 pounds; bending or reaching to file and working while standing/moving
  • Smoke-free office and grounds
  • Lighted, heated/cooled area typical of an office
  • Noise from office equipment including telephone, computer, copier, etc. and from staff interactions.
  • If working off-site employee may encounter buildings in the community that may be smoke-filled and non-handicap accessible.

 

Training

Must participate and successfully complete a variety of training which may include Infection Control, HIPAA, Corporate Compliance/Ethics, Consumer Rights, First Aid/CPR and other training as requested.
